Sonnet 128

How would you see yourself with no mirrors

How would you know you had lived save for tears

What did you expel, what did you absorb

What registers meaning or suggests form?

In images & visions, made clearer,

Was it all true or truly deceiving

That lay on your canvas, which colours swirl,

What impact have you, upon this old world?

Would you lead into the light just to die

Would you succeed, even bother to try?

So why wouldn’t you live out of dreams, then

Without sadness or regrets save goodbye

Your heart strengthened, in living through mind.
